A placeholder for the Twitter account was spotted being followed by a Microsoft employee, which caused speculation around the game's potential announcement. But the latest and greatest one comes courtesy of a well-known insider going by the name of Klobrille on the Resetera games forum, who has claimed Fable 4 will be revealed at the Xbox 20/20 games showcase on June 23. That claim was proven to be true.īefore that reveal, Fable 4's future looked a lot hazier. There had been a lot of little hints at the existence of Fable 4. It’s looking likely that there will be a decent wait for Fable 4, but we’re open to being surprised. We’d suspect that Playground Games, the developer behind Forza Horizon 4, has been working on Fable 4 for some time and that it’s potentially mid-way through its development. We’d hazard a guess that it will arrive sometime towards the end of this year or early 2022. But that game is likely years away, so we're not sure Spencer's comments mean a great deal. However, Spencer did note that Fable 4 will be out way before The Elder Scrolls 6. Since then, we've not heard a great deal abut Fable 4 through the grapevine, let alone official sources. But thanks to Herve Gengler, a senior games designer working on Fable 4 at Playground Games, we were given the impression that the game won’t be coming out for a couple of years. This isn't hugely surprising given there was no game footage shown off. While the trailer of Fable 4 served its purpose to build up hype around the game, it looks like it’s still a long way off. It just does not make sense for the developer to go backwards in the series rather than move forward. If they haven’t created a computer version of the sequel yet, they aren’t going to. Lionhead Studios has already released the third game in the series. But when they created the sequel, Gears of War 2, they told the gaming community that they had no intentions of creating a computer version of the game, ever.Īll of this information leads us to the reason that there will never be a Fable 2 PC version created by the developer. When the first Gears of War game came out for consoles they also released a PC version of the game. The developer of the Gears of War series, Epic, did the same thing as well. If Lionhead Studios never goes back to create a computer version of the sequel, it would not be the first developer to abandon a particular gaming platform in the middle of a game series. This was in contradiction to what the ‘official’ developer statement was, but it proved to be true. That same year a Lionhead Studios development team member was quoted as saying that the team was not currently working on a Fable 2 PC port and there were no plans to do so. In 2009, Lionhead Studios stated that the sequel had also been so successful that they would eventually be forced to port the game over to the PC. To this day, Fable 2 still only has a console version of the game.
